OUR STORY

Fresh Cut Flowers & Native Plants

Flowers are a family thing for us.

My name is Jeremiah, and I grew up in my grandmother Ginnie's garden in Lexington, KY.  Wall to wall flowers, she managed to pack in more almost every year. And I was so fortunate, because I bought my first house just a year or two before she had to give up her garden.  One of my favorite memories is walking through her garden selecting plants to move to my new space.  It meant so much to carry that in to a new space, knowing that some of her favorites and my grandfather Don's favorites would surround me every summer.

I also had the unusual privilege to live on 50 acres of woodlands in Rockcastle County, KY as a teenager.  At the time, I didn't know just how much I'd miss walking through woods full of ferns, phlox, and trillium.  When I go back, finding those same glades is like running into old friends.

So it was only natural that I'd eventually wind up sharing that same love of flowers and native plants with my community.
In 2023, we began sharing locally-grown cut flowers to enjoy in your home and native plants to enjoy for seasons to come.  We'll update with more progress on the farm, as it grows and develops,  and we can't wait to see you at the market, when warmer seasons arrive!

MISSION AND ASPIRATIONS

An Environmental and Natural Farm

We believe that life is richer with beautiful flowers.  We look forward to providing the best quality cut flowers, and we look forward to carrying more varieties of native plants for your garden every year to come.  We're committed to making all of those blooms and plants available using the most sustainable, environmentally friendly practices.

WHERE PLUM RUN FLOWERS BEGAN

Plum Run Flowers began with a beloved space.  Since the 1940's the Simpson family has had a home on Plum Run Road, in Bloomfield, KY.  Eliza and I couldn't be more pleased to carry that family tradition forward with Plum Run Flowers.  My mother-in-law, her siblings, and her parents all cared for the land that we're now fortunate to farm, and a part of our legacy are those stories.  Where we sow zinnias, Uncle Jim once plowed with a mule.  Every acre that we care for has memories, and we love nothing more than to make a new generation of memories with Calvin and Cecilia.
